The Carrizozo School Library is open daily Monday through Thursday from 7:45 AM to 4:05 PM.
Please feel free to visit our library to check out books, do homework and research, or use computers.

Nestled against the White Mountains in the Tularosa Basin of central New Mexico, Carrizozo hosts a  variety of art & culture, along with several opportunities to see the magnificent landscape of the surrounding area. Carrizozo has two museums, three parks, and one nationally protected lava flow. 

The School library is located inside Clegg Hall of the High School, where 15000+ books and reference documentation is open for the use of the students. 

The Librarian is Mrs. Carol Wilson.

The Land of Enchantment Book Award, New Mexico's annual state book award, is an exciting program designed to encourage the youth of New Mexico to read outstanding books of literary quality. A committee selects two lists of books -- children's and young adult. Then, New Mexico’s young people read and vote for the winners.

Books in a Series Lists

Use the following sites to determine books that belong in a series. Sometimes books in a series should be read in order. Use these sites to find out which book comes 1st, 2nd, etc.

Award Books

The Newbery Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association for the most distinuished American children's book published the previous year.


The Batchelder Award is a citation awarded to an American publisher for a children's book considered to be the most outstanding of those books orginially published in a foreign language in a foreign country, and subsequently translated into English and published in the United States. m


The Pura Belpre Award, established in 1996, is presented to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.


The Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Medal is awarded annually to the author(s) and illustrator(s) of the most distinguished informational book published in English during the preceding year.


The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book the exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature.
