    Grizzly Happenings

    Dear Parents/Guardians and Community Members,

**Free sports physicals on July 26th from 1:30-4:00 in the Old Gym. Physical forms are available at the Carrizozo Administration building and the Carrizozo Health Clinic.  Forms must be filled out before a student can get a physical.

**Carrizozo Schools was awarded the K3++ grant.  It is for students in grades K-5. It will start on July 9th and run through August 9th.  School will be in session from 8:00 - 3:30, Monday - Thursday.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Students will go swimming on Tuesdays and Thursdays. No school supplies are needed.

**No Kid Hungry is pleased to confirm that the service will continue in its present form in 2018: children and families can text ‘FOOD’ or ‘COMIDA’ to 877-877 to receive information in English and Spanish about open summer meal sites in their area.

**Carrizozo Schools continues to collect Box Tops, so if you use products that have Box Tops, clip them and send them to school with your child/children or drop them by the high school office.

**The application for free or reduced meals is available in the high school office.  Students in grades K-8 are still eligible for free meals.  Students in 9-12 will have to purchase meals, unless your family qualifies for free or reduced meals.  The cost is $1.35 for breakfast and $2.75 for lunch for students.

**Carrizozo Schools is offering students and their families a T-Mobile Unit for wi-fi accessibility at a reasonable cost.  The user agrees to use this equipment for either school use in which all school technology use rules apply or individual use in which all applicable school, state and federal laws apply. Any misuses of this technology will result in the termination of the users right to use unit without refund of payment.  If you have questions or would like to lease the equipment for use of wi-fi at your home, please come by the high school office. The cost of the lease is $130 per year and there is no refund if turned in early.   The form is attached.  For questions, call Mr. Espinoza at 575-648-2346

"It is not about scoring an 'A; on a test, or as a school, it is about work ethic, kindness, respect, your ability to help others, and a never-say-quit attitude, when you have these traits in place all other things fall into place," summarizes Rick Espinoza, superintendent of Carrizozo Schools. Espinoza was speaking to the Carrizozo High School students and staff who had gathered to meet secretary designate of the New Mexico Public Education Department Christopher Ruszkowski. Ruszkowski visited Carrizozo as part of the New Mexico True Straight A tour congratulating the top 10 percent of schools in the Land of Enchantment. Mr. Espinoza stated that "He is truly proud of his students, staff and faculty as well as the community for the work all put into making Carrizozo Schools among the best schools in the State of New Mexico."
